The Link Between A 212cc and 6.5hp Mini Bike Engine

Image
Is there a link between a 212cc and 6.5 hp engine? To start with, any engine is referred to both in cc and hp to denote its power and capacity. However, the common trend is to refer to an engine in cc only, even when its power is being indicated. This is because manufacturers invariably refer to an engine in cc only and this is followed by the dealers of spare parts and owners down the line. But as will be seen in this post, it is not right to use the terms cc and hp interchangeably. Let’s take the example of a 6.5 hp engine that roughly is the equivalent of 212cc. But there is a world of difference between the two. HP is a measure of the power of the engine and cc or cubic centimeters is a measure of the volume displaced by the cylinders of the engine. The reason why both are referred to in the same breath is that the more or lower the horsepower of the engine, the more or lower will be the displacement volume of the cylinders. Hence, a displacement of 212cc of the cylinders roug...

Why is the Frame A Critical Component of a Mini Bike

Image
A mini bike frame is what distinguishes the product of one manufacturer from another. A mini bike frame typically has the seat perched on top, the engine on the lower platform, and consists of two hexagon-shaped rods. The frame is a critical component of a mini bike, not only in terms of the strength to take the weight of the engine and the suspension but for stability and balance too. The mini bike frame holds all the parts of the bike - the engine, transmission, gas tank, seat, front fork, and rear suspension - together and hence is specially manufactured to have great load-bearing capabilities. Further, many owners tweak their bikes and add a lot of accessories to jazz up their bikes, a practice that should be avoided unless one is sure about the load-bearing capacity of the mini bike frame . For example, many riders, especially those that are into dirt track racing and take their bikes over challenging courses add a supercharger for extra power or change the wheel rim to...

Mini Bike 6.5 HP Engine Explained

Image
Most people are conversant with engine power in cc instead of hp. This is because even manufacturers mark their mini bikes’ power in cc. For instance, you will get mini bikes starting from 49cc and subsequently 100cc, 200cc, and more. But have you normally heard anybody talking about a mini bike 6.5 hp engine that translates into 212cc? Probably not. However, this is not a standard definition. Even though mini bike engines are marked in cc, there is a subtle difference between a 6.5 hp engine and the equivalent 212cc. Technically speaking, the two are not the same, as hp is a measure of the power of the engine while cc or cubic centimeters is the volume of displacement of the cylinders. However, they are talked about in the same breath because of the theory that the higher or lower the displacement of the cylinders, the more or less the power of the engine that is generated.  Even then, this is not the rule of thumb as a lot of factors have to be taken into account bef...

HP And CC – The Differences in Engine Power You Need to Know

Image
For most people, talking about a 6.5 hp engine is not very convenient, rather they are more at home with a 212cc engine which translates into approximately the same power level. However, technically speaking, both units of measurement are not the same. HP measures the power of the engine while cc or cubic centimeters is the volume of the displacement of the engine. The two are often linked with the perspective that the more the displacement of an engine, the higher will be its power. However, this cannot be a standardized definition as several other factors determine the power of an engine. Take the instance of a 6.5hp engine. Some considerations include the compression ratio of the motor and the placement of the valves. Other traits of the power are how fast the engine runs, the type of fuel used, and the fuel/carburetor injection system. You can also substantially increase the output of a 6.5 hp engine by using a supercharger/turbocharger and optimizing the cooling and the...

What You Should Know Before Buying Mini Bike Gas Tank

Image
When you look at a mini bike what is the first component that captures your attention? Without any debate, it has got to be the mini bike gas tank , standing out from the rest of the machine in attractive color and exclusive shapes. This is also true for the standard motorcycles that zip past you on the roads. See it this way – there is nothing much that can be done with the shape or color of the wheels, frame, handle, and engine. These are all of the usual configurations with not much scope for change. But it is the mini bike gas tank where manufacturers showcase their unbridled creativity. There is another aspect that manufacturers look at so far as mini bike gas tank is concerned and that is when they have to launch new models every year to stay competitive. Making major changes to the engine, transmission, or frame can be very expensive. And hence done infrequently, perhaps once in four or five years. Instead, what is done is tweaking the mini bike gas tank to give a brand-ne...

All That You Need To Know About 6.5hp Engine

Image
While most people tend to see the hp and the cc of an engine in the same light, there is a marked difference between the two. The hp measures the power of the engine while the cc is the volume in cubic centimeters denoting the displacement of the engine cylinders. The link between the two is that the larger the displacement of the cylinders, the more will be the power generated by the engine. For example, a 6.5 hp engine is equivalent to a 212cc engine. However, this is not any form of standardized assumption because not one but several factors play a role in determining the power output of a 6.5 hp engine . The main ones are the placement of the valves and the compression ratio of the motor. Others include the speed of the motor, the type of fuel used, and the fuel/carburetor injection system. Some specialized components like the turbocharger/supercharger and modifications to the cooling and the timing system can exponentially increase the power of a 6.5 hp engine. Even tho...

Everything you wanted to know about custom engine in a mini bike

All you need is a robust and powerful 6.5 hp engine and then you can truly enjoy your ride to your heart’s content.   If you are all set to customise and build your own mini bike for riding, it’s important to consider the most obvious element of a bike - the engine. Starting with choosing a powerful 6.5hp engine is the first step, and then you can...

All That You Need to Know About Mini Bike Gas Tank

Image
If you ever find several mini bikes lined up, each from a different manufacturer, many facets will catch your attention. You will find that most parts and accessories almost resemble each other. But in every case, the  mini bike gas tank   will stand out from the next. This is because the main component that determines the silhouette of a mini bike and helps to distinguish one make and model from another is the mini bike gas tank. Most manufacturers launch new models every year to stay ahead of the competition. It is almost impossible to regularly update existing models because of the costs involved. But tweak the mini bike gas tank, give it a cosmetic change like color and shape and you have a bike that looks completely different from the previous model. A gas tank is made of either metal or plastic, with each having its own pros and cons. Let’s take the metal tank first. Made of steel or aluminum, such a mini bike gas tank is very durable and high temperatu...

An Overview of Mini Bike 6.5 hp Engine

Image
A basic 6.5 hp engine is gasoline-powered and has limited applications like lawnmowers, portable generators, mini bikes, and go-karts. The conversion factor is about 200 cc for a 6.5 hp engine . This is an approximation as the two units – hp and cc – are different. HP measures the power that the motor generates while cc is a measure of the size of the cylinders typically known as displacement. The common notion is that the larger the displacement of the engine the more power will it generate but again, this is no rule of thumb as the power output of the motor depends on several factors. These are the cooling system, the type of fuel, the use of a turbocharger/supercharger, the compression ratio of the motor, how fast the motor runs, the placement of the valves, the carburetor/fuel injection system, the timing system, and more. When all these parameters are taken in unison, the true power output of a 6.5 hp engine  can be determined. Here is a typical example of a 6.5 hp ...
