All That You Need to Know About Mini Bike Gas Tank

If you ever find several mini bikes lined up, each from a different manufacturer, many facets will catch your attention. You will find that most parts and accessories almost resemble each other. But in every case, the mini bike gas tank will stand out from the next.

This is because the main component that determines the silhouette of a mini bike and helps to distinguish one make and model from another is the mini bike gas tank. Most manufacturers launch new models every year to stay ahead of the competition. It is almost impossible to regularly update existing models because of the costs involved. But tweak the mini bike gas tank, give it a cosmetic change like color and shape and you have a bike that looks completely different from the previous model.

A gas tank is made of either metal or plastic, with each having its own pros and cons.

Let’s take the metal tank first. Made of steel or aluminum, such a mini bike gas tank is very durable and high temperature-resistant too. This is critical as the temperature of the tank rises a lot when the rider is scorching the tracks. For manufacturers, metal gas tanks are profitable as it is easy to mold into new shapes to introduce new models every year.

For plastic, the most common material for mini bike gas tank is polypropylene. The material is very durable and highly flammable liquid can be contained safely inside even in high temperatures.

However, plastic scores over metal in safety factor as plastic gas tanks do not have seams like metal that can rupture in a crash and cause a fire.
