The 6.5 hp engine explained
Rarely do people talk about an engine in terms of Horse Power
(HP), rather, it is more about Cubic Centimeters (cc) that spontaneously comes
to mind. While both are linked to engine power, there is a difference between
the two.
Before going into the details of a 6.5 hp engine, it
is necessary to understand the definition of what hp and cc are when it comes
to an engine. It should be added here that although there is a world of
dissimilarity between the two, they can be converted from one to another.
But first, what are hp and cc when it comes to a 6.5 hp
engine, or any engine for that matter?
Let’s start with the cc or cubic centimeters. It is the total
volume that is displaced by the size of the cylinders of the engine. The
greater the volume of space displaced, the more will be the power and the pull
of the engine. If you convert the power of a 6.5 hp engine to cc, it works out to approximately 212.
Coming to the horsepower part of an engine, it typically
represents the power of the engine though sometimes kilowatt is also used for
the same purpose. HP is a measurement of the performance of the engine and here
torque comes into the picture. Torque is a measurement of how heavy a load an
engine can pull and horsepower denotes how fast the engine can apply the
torque.
A 6.5 hp engine can
be tweaked to produce greater power by keeping the volume of the cylinders
constant. By changing the fuel/carburetor injection system or the placement of
the valves, the hp of an engine can be greatly enhanced.
